Certified Massage Therapist located in Midtown East, New York, NY

About Kallan

Patty Kallan is a NY State licensed massage therapist since 2009. She is a graduate of the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences which has offered the oldest and most comprehensive massage program in the country since 1916.

Patty began her professional career at Equinox gaining valuable experience in therapeutic massage with an emphasis on relaxation and stress reduction in a spa setting for four years. After acquiring those skills, Patty transitioned to medical massage at several offices in the city working closely with chiropractors and physical therapists to provide highly skilled, therapeutic massage to patients.

Her practice specializes in deep tissue, Swedish massage, compression, trigger point and myofascial release. Patty has extensive experience with treating shoulder and rotator cuff injuries, migraines, neck and lower back pain, and Sciatica-related symptoms. She successfully combines effective soft tissue techniques and stretches to open up and release tight areas in the body to provide a deeply relaxing and de-stressing massage experience.

After receiving her degree, Patty’s interest in Eastern massage and healing techniques brought her to northern Thailand where she received a professional Thai massage certification. She is an accomplished Thai massage practitioner and enjoys using an Eastern perspective to complement the Western bodywork modalities in which she was trained. Patty is also a certified yoga instructor which provides her with a holistic understanding of the body and how to balance and optimally maintain it with daily stretches to offset the effects of sedentary office work.

Patty’s engaging personality, positive energy and ability to ‘read’ the body help her to establish trust and close rapport with her patients. She actively listens to her patients and respects their concerns. Her passion for her work is clearly evident in how she cares for and treats her patients.

In her free time, Patty enjoys the challenge of learning new languages and skills. She loves exploring new neighborhoods, traveling the world, and experiencing different foods and cultures. She keeps fit by doing regular low impact exercise, hula hooping, biking in the city, and hiking in the mountains. She loves to cook and watch documentaries about everything under the sun, but especially about nature and animals. Her new personal project involves cleaning up our streets, parks and beaches, keeping trash out of our public spaces.
